What are the benefits of a facial?

Facials can generally treat a variety of skin issues. Among the advantages of having a facial include increased hydration, brightening, purifying, balancing, calming, sculpting, and lifting of the skin.

These treatments also offer a host of other anti-aging advantages by boosting collagen production, enhancing circulation, and supplying oxygen and nutrients to every layer of the skin. Your skin’s suppleness, strength, and structure are attributed to a protein called collagen. Healthy blood flow to the skin aids in the elimination of germs and encourages cell renewal, both of which are critical for the synthesis of collagen. However, as you get older, your skin naturally starts to produce less collagen, which can result in sagging, wrinkles, and other signs of aging.

Facials can also reduce inflammation, minimize breakouts, and smooth uneven skin texture resulting in a brighter complexion.

Facials are beneficial even for those with clear skin, as having clear skin does not always equate to healthy skin. Long-term hydration, plumping, and preservation of the skin are all possible with facials. Regular exfoliation helps your skin regenerate new cells, and doing these treatments enables your skin to receive this process. This lessens the visibility of your pores, lowers the amount of oil produced by your skin, lessens hyperpigmentation and dark spots, and helps to maintain the pH balance of your skin.

Another great benefit is that it can help the skin care products in your daily and nightly routine to work better when you use them at home.

How often should I get a facial?

Maintaining a regular schedule is crucial when starting a new skin care journey. In order to guarantee the best outcome, it’s important to stick to a regular schedule, particularly if we’re treating a particular skin issue.

Since skin regenerates every four to six weeks, we typically suggest facials every four to six weeks. The ideal frequency for facials depends on your skin type, concerns, and goals. To find out what frequency is ideal for your skin type, consult your esthetician.

It’s also important to take good care of your skin in between facials so that you can maintain your results and continue to improve your skin health. After your facial, your esthetician will provide you with skin care recommendations to help you better understand your skin’s needs and how to care for it.

When your skin is healthy and radiant and skin issues are under control, you and your esthetician can discuss how often to schedule facials. You may be able to move to a more maintenance-focused schedule and stretch treatments further apart.

What qualifies someone to perform facials?

With any skin treatment you’ll want to go somewhere that has licensed professionals performing facials on clients.  You’ll also want a licensed professional that has an initial consultation before even touching your face. Make sure that whoever you see asks questions about your skin and health conditions so they come up with an appropriate treatment plan that best suits your needs.

Can I schedule my facial with my wax appointment?

Ideally you want to avoid any facial waxing 24 to 48 hours before your facial. Some products might inflame or irritate the areas that have been recently waxed. If you do choose to get waxed the same day, your facial will be limited in certain product usage and areas covered. Any body waxing the same day is fine.

Is this for sensitive skin? Can I get a facial if I am pregnant?

If you have a really irritable condition (perioral dermatitis, for example), you should avoid treatment since a facial could exacerbate your symptoms. Users of Accutane should also hold off on getting future treatments until their skin is more resilient.

You can also get a facial while you’re pregnant but be aware you will be laying down for about an hour for the average facial. It may be beneficial to get the Express Facial if you won’t be able to do the normal one.

This is the reason the initial consultation is so crucial prior to receiving a facial. Talk to your esthetician about the products you use on a regular basis and any recent dental or oral surgery, botox, or fillers. If you have any additional medical conditions or are pregnant, you should also mention them. Your esthetician will assist you in choosing the appropriate facial to avoid harming your skin.

How long do results last?

The duration of results may vary depending on your age, financial situation, lifestyle, health, and other skin treatments you receive. The more regularly you receive facials, the more cumulative the effects will be. For best effects, consider getting facials as a continuous habit, just like you would with a healthy diet or exercise.

Why you might break out after a facial

Some people may experience what is commonly referred to as purging. It’s your skin’s method of clearing out any bacteria, debris, or dirt that may be hiding beneath the surface. Having a facial expedites that procedure. After treatment, everything emerges from under your skin because of the quick cell turnover. It should go away a week or two after your treatment and won’t last long.

Getting a facial right before an important, photo-worthy event is actually not a smart idea if you’re a beginner because purging can be particularly prevalent after your first facial or when you start using any new products. Getting regular facials and taking excellent care of your skin at home will help you prevent purging all the time. Less debris will become trapped in your pores and create inflammation the more you take care of your skin.

What aftercare is good to use?

Quality aftercare is essential in maintaining the results of your skin. Your esthetician will consult with you about the best aftercare for your skin type and desired results. You can also book just a consultation if you aren’t interested in the full facial.
